The Ballechin 15 Years Madeira Cask 2007/2022 is a heavily peated single malt whisky produced by the Edradour Distillery in the Scottish Highlands. With a history dating back to 1825, Edradour is one of Scotland’s smallest traditional distilleries, renowned for its handcrafted production methods. Under the Ballechin label, the distillery releases its heavily smoked expressions, offering a bold contrast to its typically smoother styles.

Distilled in 2007 and matured for 15 years in carefully selected Madeira wine casks, this whisky was bottled in 2022 as a limited single cask release. The influence of the Madeira cask imparts a refined fruity sweetness and added complexity to the intense peaty character. Bottled at a robust 57.5% ABV in natural cask strength, without chill-filtration or added coloring, it captures the pure essence of traditional whisky craftsmanship.

On the nose, powerful peat smoke meets ripe dark fruits, dried fruits, and a delicate spiciness. The palate offers a rich and warming experience, where strong smoky notes blend with sweet wine flavors, spices, and a hint of dark chocolate. A long, smoky-fruity finish perfectly rounds off this exceptional single cask release.
