Ballantine had his business in the South Bridge area near Princes Street in Edinburgh in 1837. There he experimented mixing malt and grain whiskeys of different ages from different distilleries to create a slightly lighter, more refined product This is how the excellent and various Ballantine whiskeys were created.

Soft, sweet notes of honey and vanilla, with a hint of apple and ripe pears, fill the nose. On the palate, it is smooth and balanced with nuances of milk chocolate, spicy oak and a hint of honey. The finish is long-lasting, pleasantly mild and slightly smoky with subtle floral accents.
