Royal Oporto Port is a brand of venerable and worldwide renowned PortWeinhaus Real Companhia Velha. Real Companhia Velha was founded in 1756 by King José I for quality assurance of port wines and is thus not only the oldest port wine house but also the oldest company Portugal at all.
The company quickly played a significant role in the economy of the Portuguese city of Porto, because Royal Oporto was exported to the whole world and was particularly popular in European princely houses. That's why you also talked about the king of the wines as the wine of the kings.
The grapes from which this special wine is made are grown on the slate and granite slopes of the famous Douro Valley. After careful hand-selection and pressing, the grapes are matured in oak barrels for 10 to 40 years before being processed into this high-quality port wine.
A fine port wine with pleasant aromas of roses and almonds. The finish is sweet and lingering.
