On the edge of the Austrian shore of Lake Constance, in an area with a strong orchard, apples, pears, plums, cherries, apricots, quinces and other fruit and fruit varieties with a distinct varietal character ripen under special climatic conditions. Since 1886, they have been using these treasures of nature to produce distillates of the highest fruit enjoyment. What began as a farm with an inn developed over the years into a cooperage and cidery and finally culminated in today's Verschluss-Fein distillery.
Spicy, powerful and incredibly nutty: Wild walnut liqueur reveals the character of this popular fruit in all its flavorful facets. And as with most of the raw materials we use, the degree of ripeness is decisive for the result. Or to be more precise - the degree of unripeness. Because we don't need a nutcracker to produce this nut liqueur specialty. We harvest the still green fruits in the local forests by mid-June at the latest. The kernel inside should still be soft. We then prepare the aromatic preparation in our liqueur kitchen. To do this, we cut the walnuts in half and soak them in alcohol with selected spices. Our batch rests for several weeks at a relatively warm ambient temperature and has enough time to develop its special taste and strong color. Then the time has finally come - it can be tasted. The intense aroma of this wild nutty delight is already captivating on the nose. On the palate, the concentrated variety of flavors of the fruit unfolds: slightly tart, spicy, unmistakably nutty in taste and long-lasting in the finish. A unique pleasure that you should not only try neat, but also over vanilla ice cream! Simply delicious!
