On the edge of the Austrian shore of Lake Constance, in an area with a strong orchard, apples, pears, plums, cherries, apricots, quinces and other fruit and fruit varieties with a distinct varietal character ripen under special climatic conditions. Since 1886, they have been using these treasures of nature to produce distillates of the highest fruit enjoyment. What began as a farm with an inn developed over the years into a cooperage and cidery and finally culminated in today's Verschluss-Fein distillery.
The harvest of wild raspberries usually lasts throughout the summer months and into September. They are also among the fruits that need to be processed as quickly as possible. As the berries do not have a high sugar content, they are not mashed but macerated - i.e. soaked in alcohol. This releases the individual fruit flavors and passes them into the alcohol. They are then distilled - twice, in the usual Prinz fine distillation process. After resting for several years in stoneware, we store the intensely fruity distillate in small Prinz wooden barrels and then refine it with natural fruit extracts. The intensely varietal aroma immediately makes you think of sun-ripened berries on the bushes. The full fruity potential finally unfolds on the palate: the raspberry flavor typical of the variety, a pleasant sweetness and the fine, slightly vanilla-like wooden barrel note.
