On the edge of the Austrian shore of Lake Constance, in an area with a strong orchard, apples, pears, plums, cherries, apricots, quinces and other fruit and fruit varieties with a distinct varietal character ripen under special climatic conditions. Since 1886, they have been using these treasures of nature to produce distillates of the highest fruit enjoyment. What began as a farm with an inn developed over the years into a cooperage and cidery and finally culminated in today's Verschluss-Fein distillery.
The harvest season for our Lake Constance apples begins towards the end of summer. For the production of apple schnapps, we only use fully ripe, healthy fruit, which is delivered fresh to our orchard and processed directly into mash. The fruity apple distillate is double distilled in a vacuum distillation process and stored in stoneware for several years. Only then is it placed in the specially made Prinz wooden barrel, where the schnapps has further months to mature. The fine apple schnapps impresses on the nose with its pleasant freshness of ripe fruit. On the palate, the characteristic, fruity and tart taste of the apple is paired with a fine sweetness. The particularly mild finish and the strong presence of the fruit are typical of the old varieties.
