On the edge of the Austrian shore of Lake Constance, in an area with a strong orchard, apples, pears, plums, cherries, apricots, quinces and other fruit and fruit varieties with a distinct varietal character ripen under special climatic conditions. Since 1886, they have been using these treasures of nature to produce distillates of the highest fruit enjoyment. What began as a farm with an inn developed over the years into a cooperage and cidery and finally culminated in today's Verschluss-Fein distillery.
Williams-Christ is certainly one of the most popular pear varieties of all, not only when it comes to eating, but also when it comes to distilling schnapps. After being stored in stoneware, the fine schnapps is placed in wooden barrels for several months, whereby the type of wood used is decisive for the taste. This is the only way to give the Alte Williams-Christbirne its typical barrel character without overpowering the fruit's own aromas. And these can already be found on the nose - multi-layered, intense and characteristic. The impressions continue on the palate and in the finish. The full-bodied, yet soft taste of the fruit is paired with a subtle sweetness and pleasant tart, spicy notes.
