On the edge of the Austrian shore of Lake Constance, in an area with a strong orchard, apples, pears, plums, cherries, apricots, quinces and other fruit and fruit varieties with a distinct varietal character ripen under special climatic conditions. Since 1886, they have been using these treasures of nature to produce distillates of the highest fruit enjoyment. What began as a farm with an inn developed over the years into a cooperage and cidery and finally culminated in today's Verschluss-Fein distillery.
The plum is a subspecies of the plum and is therefore a stone fruit. The domestic plum variety is very popular in our latitudes. It has a special fruit characteristic with juicy, slightly stewed aromas. After delivery to our fruit farm, the fruit is processed immediately. It is very important to remove the seeds, as they would negatively affect the flavor of the schnapps. Double distilled, the fruity plum distillate is stored for a long time in earthenware containers before being placed in wooden barrels for several months. A distinctive, floral aroma with a subtle hint of marzipan dominates the nose. Fine fruity, slightly spicy aromas and the pleasant sweetness of the Alte Haus plum unfold on the palate. A mild fruit schnapps in a class of its own!
