Maison Janneau is one of the main producers that carries out the distillation, aging and bottling of its production entirely in the region of origin AOC Armagnac. Armagnac was born in Gascony, a region in southwestern France at the foot of the Pyrenees between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean coast, a rolling landscape planted with vines since the ancient Romans and dotted with beautiful medieval villages
.Armagnac is one of three French brandies "appellation contrôlée". The other two are Cognac and Calvados. Armagnac is the oldest spirit in France and probably in the world.
The VS is a blend of eaux-de-vie distilled from white wines produced in the wine regions of the Appellation Contrôlée Contrôlées Bas Armagnac and Tnarèze. VS is also a combination of two types of distillation. The combination of these two types of distillation in Armagnac is typical of the House of Janneau. The eaux-de-vie are aged separately in oak barrels for 5 years, where they develop their special characteristics until the cellar master blends them to perfection. Distillates from these areas are very light and fine.
On the nose, delicate and fresh notes of fruity plums and green apples rise. The palate is slightly woody, fruity and you notice notes of vanilla, chocolate and oak. The finish is long and warm.
