How is a cigar brand born? Sometimes in a highly unexpected way, as the development of the Gilbert brand shows. The model for the Gilbert de Montsalvat brand is the story" The Pope of Geneva "by Thomas Brunnschweiler. On a dull Sunday, Raymondo was reading Bernasconi told the story and was deeply saddened at first. The hero of the story could neither smell nor taste anything. But maybe that was exactly the message: Trust your own judgment, don't listen to cigar popes! Inspired by the story, Mr Bernansconi decided to copy his brand to name the hero.

The "Gilbert de Montsalvat SIGNATURE" is a masterpiece by Eladio Diaz. Eladio Diaz is a veteran in the world of cigars. He started out in the tobacco industry as a teenager and worked at Tabadom from the 1980s, where he was responsible for Davidoff's production and quality control until his retirement in 2022. The "Gilbert de Montsalvat SIGNATURE" bears the signature of Eladio Diaz through and through. The blend consists of six different tobaccos, all of which were grown in the Dominican Republic, a so-called Puro. A light to medium-bodied classic Dominican cigar, excellently crafted and with an incredibly deep sweetness, paired with notes of coffee and roasted aromas as well as subtle bitter almonds. The full-bodied smoke volume rounds off this blend perfectly. Raymondo and its team are proud to be one of the first brands to produce a line of cigars in the new factory.
