Heinrich Villiger's Swiss-German tobacco company for its 120th anniversary produced the traditional company's first own premium cigar called Villiger 1888 in September 2008. Villiger Original-Krumme 5 x 6 pieces. The popular classic consists of fine-flavored Virginia tobacco and is braided by hand according to old Cuban tradition. Why is the cigar crooked? Who would have thought that: The unusual shape of the VILLIGER Original-Krumme was originally a clever form of theft protection! The workers in Cuba's cigar factories traditionally received a small supply of cigars for their own use every week. So that they were not tempted to secretly increase their personal quota, the free cigars were braided into small braids while they were still damp. By drying in the braid, the cigars were given their distinctive, crooked shape that can be seen from afar. So the cigar manufacturers could see from a great distance: Here a worker is smoking a cigar from his free contingent quite legitimately. However, if an employee was spotted with a straight cigar, he had to be prepared for unpleasant questions about its origin. Because hardly any worker could afford to buy cigars regularly.
