The Smokehead brand belongs to the independent bottler Ian MacLeod, based in Broxburn, Scotland. Which Islay distillery is behind the famous skull whiskey is a closely guarded secret. The finish, which lasts an unknown time, takes place in former rum barrels from the Caribbean. Everything else is kept top secret.
Smokehead Sherry Cask Blast is carefully matured in sherry casks, which gives it its unique combination of powerful smoke and fruity sweetness. Maturation in Oloroso sherry casks enhances the intensity and adds an extra dimension of dark fruit, spice and a hint of chocolate to the whisky.
On the nose, the Smokehead Sherry Cask Blast reveals intense notes of peat smoke, accompanied by sweet sherry aromas, dried fruits and a hint of spice. A powerful combination of strong smoke, sweet raisins, dark chocolate and a hint of spicy pepper unfolds on the palate. The whisky is full-bodied and intense, with a perfectly balanced blend of sweetness and smoke. The finish is long and warming, characterized by smoky and spicy notes that linger for a long time.
