The Macallan is a single malt whiskey distillery in Easter Elchies, Craigellachie, Banffshire, Scotland.

The Macallan was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed. The making of The Macallan is based on key influences from Spain, North America and Scotland as well as their respective natural raw materials combined with traditional methods and craftsmanship. All of the whiskeys get their color 100 percent from the wood of the barrels in which they are stored. Since wood is a natural product, every tree is different and therefore gives the whiskey different flavors and colors as it matures. The assembled barrels from northern Spain are then flavored with sherry for 18 months and then shipped to Scotland, where they are bottled with the fine brandy from The Macallan.

The oak casks used for The Macallan Colour Collection 12 Years Old are seasoned with sherry wine from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. With flavours of citrus, orchard fruits and nutmeg, the whisky is a natural, golden colour - the outcome of our new make spirit and exceptional oak casks working harmoniously together over the years. The Colour Collection 12 Years Old presents whisky which has been matured in American oak casks, harmoniously complemented with a subtle inclusion from Europeanoak. The packaging’s colours have been carefully chosen to complement the golden oak tone of the whisky within. There is an echo of the strikingly pale terroir of Jerez de la Frontera.
