Glenglassaugh Distillery was founded in 1875 by Colonel James Moir and became known for producing very fine whiskey. Glenglassaugh was shut down until December 2008 when the distillery was bought by a group of investors. Glenglassaugh has been owned by the Benriach Distillery Company since 2013. In 2016, Brown-Forman acquired Glenglassaugh Distillery along with Glendronach and Benriach Distilleries.
This Glenglassaughs 12 year old matured the whole time in a mixture of old bourbon, sherry and red wine casks. Aromas of spicy rice, juicy oranges and corked berries dominate the nose. On the palate, you can perceive a beautiful harmony between sweetness and herbal flavors as well as a variety of other flavors, including ripe oranges, cereals and nutty oak.
