The distillery was built in 1897 and was first called Strathspey. When the owners went bankrupt, A. P. Blyth bought the distillery for his son and named it Dalwhinnie. The whiskey from the Scottish Highlands is stored in the highest distillery in Scotland, where they have remained true to the old traditions. For example, no other distillery is allowed to use the water from the 600-metre-high Lochan at Doire Uaine in the Drumochter Hills. The composition of tradition and wild, cold origin makes the whisky a clear, easily accessible drink with a malty-sweet taste.
Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold is a special single malt whisky from one of the highest and coldest distilleries in Scotland, the Dalwhinnie distillery in the Scottish Highlands. With an alcohol content of 43%, this whisky is specially made from barley harvested in the cold winter months, which gives the whisky a unique and intense character. The cool processing during distillation produces soft, honey-sweet and spicy notes that are perfectly suited to winter.
The nose reveals pleasant notes of honey, spices and ripe fruit. Accompanied by a subtle maltiness and floral nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth with strong aromas of heather honey, vanilla, apples and cinnamon. There is a hint of peat smoke, but it remains gently in the background. The finish is long-lasting and warming, with notes of honey and spices.
