Benriach is a whiskey distillery near Elgin, Scotland, UK. Since 1998, the Speysiders have been experimenting with triple distillation in pot stills, which is supposed to give the raw brandy an even fruitier and spicier character.BenRiach, aged 21 years, has been matured in 4 different types of cask: all in pure oak, but also in Pedro Ximenez sherry, red wine and old American bourbon casks. Each of these barrels has a different characteristic, resulting in a complex and refined drink.
A mixture of ripe summer fruits as well as a contrasting zest and a warm base of ginger stalks rises to the nose. On the palate, it is very smooth. Vanilla and cinnamon are displaced by the acidity of fruit and citrus peel. The pleasant malt contributes to a long-lasting, sweet and spicy taste.
