On August 9, 1884, La Fábrica de San Pedro was founded in Arucas, Gran Canaria. The distillery mainly produces sugar, cane spirits and rum. Today the former “La Fábrica” is called the Arehucas distillery, which acquired the Artemi Liquor Factory in 2006, forming the largest group of distillates and spirits in the Canary Islands.
Since the island has the best climatic conditions for the cultivation of high-quality sugar cane, Destilerias Arehucas were soon able to launch the artisanal process for converting sugar cane juice into rum, combined with the use of modern equipment. And in 2006, Destilerias Arehucas acquired the Artemi Liquor Factory, forming the largest union of distillates and spirits in the Canary Islands, in order to preserve the history of Canarian rum and its historical connection with the archipelago.
The 18-year-old Ron Arehucas had a special maturation and was stored in oak barrels for 18 years. Thanks to this storage, aromas of dried fruit, vanilla and spicy oak emanate. The aroma is characterized by a variety of sweet scents, including molasses, vanilla and spices.
