Xarel-lo

A white grape variety that is mainly grown in Catalonia, Spain. It is one of the most important grape varieties for the production of Cava, the Spanish sparkling wine. Xarel-lo is valued for its ability to retain acidity, which makes it ideal for the production of sparkling wine.

Xérès

French name for sherry, a fortified wine from the area around the city of Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. Xérès (sherry) is produced in different styles such as Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, which differ in flavour and sweetness.

Ximenia

Fruit of the Ximenia tree, which is native to Africa. The sour taste of Ximenia fruit is sometimes used in local alcoholic beverages to give them a unique tart flavour.

XO (Extra Old)

A quality standard for cognac that states that the youngest components of the cognac are at least 10 years old. XO Cognac is known for its complex, rich flavour and depth, which develop as a result of the long ageing period. A well-known example is the Rémy Martin XO.
