Habanero liqueur

A spicy liqueur made from habanero chilies. This liqueur is known for its intense heat and is often used in small quantities to give cocktails a spicy kick.

Half and Half

A mixture of equal parts pale ale and stout beer. In the cocktail world, this can also mean a mixture of two different spirits or liqueurs.

Harvey Wallbanger

A classic cocktail made with vodka, orange juice and Galliano. This drink became particularly popular in the 1970s.

Hazelnut liqueur

A sweet liqueur with a pronounced hazelnut flavor. It is often used to prepare desserts or coffee drinks, e.g. in Nuss Irish Coffee.

Heering Cherry Liqueur

A Danish cherry liqueur known for its rich taste and deep red color. It is often used in cocktails such as the Singapore Sling.

Herbal liqueur

Liqueur made from a mixture of different herbs and often has digestive properties. Examples: Jägermeister and Unterberg.

Highball

A simple cocktail, usually consisting of a spirit and a larger amount of a non-alcoholic mixed drink, served in a tall glass with ice.

Highland Scotch

Scotch whisky from the Scottish Highlands, known for its diverse flavor profiles, ranging from fruity and light to rich and peaty.

Hirschbräu

A type of German beer that is often characterized by traditional brewing methods and regional ingredients. Hirschbräu can range from light lagers to strong dark beers.

Hock

A colloquial British term for any white wine from Germany. The term originally comes from the town of Hochheim am Main.

Honey Bourbon

Honey-flavored bourbon offers a sweet, smooth addition to the classic bourbon taste. It is popular as a base for warm cocktails in winter.

Honey liqueur

A liqueur made primarily from honey and often containing other flavors such as spices or herbs. It is enjoyed both neat and in cocktails.

Honeydew melon liqueur

A fruity liqueur with the mild, sweet taste of honeydew melon. Ideal for summer cocktails or as a dessert.

Hooch

Colloquial term for home-distilled or illegally produced alcohol. Today, the term is also used for commercially produced high-proof drinks.

Hops

Flowers of the hop plant used in beer production to impart bitterness, aroma and preservative properties.

Horchata

Drink made from ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice and/or barley, sweetened with sugar and often flavored with cinnamon or vanilla. Popular in the cocktail world as an ingredient for creative mixed drinks.

Hot Buttered Rum

A warming cocktail made from rum, butter, hot water or cider and spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

Hot toddy

Traditional warming cocktail, usually made from hot water, honey, spices and whisky. Popular as a home remedy for colds.

Hum

An exotic blend of rum, hibiscus and spices. Gives cocktails an unusual, spicy note.

Humito

A cocktail that combines smoky and sweet flavors, often with mezcal as a base and a variety of fruit or herbal additions.

Hurricane

A sweet, strong cocktail made with rum, lemon juice and passion fruit syrup, often served in a characteristically curved glass.

Hydrometer

An instrument used in the production of spirits and beer to measure the density of a liquid in relation to water.
